Soon to be departing CEO Jeff Bezos would pay almost $2 billion a year under Washington state's wealth tax proposal.

State legislators have recently proposed a 1% tax on people who have more than $1 billion in wealth. The tax would be solely applied to nontangible financial assets such as futures contracts, publicly traded options and stocks and bonds.

As of February 11th, 2021, Bezos was worth an estimated $191.2 billion. He led Amazon for 26 years which has come under fire during the pandemic for the way it allegedly treat its workers.
